Just Keep Moving
Written September 24, 2019
My friend, your life is filled with a variety of emotions, events, and people. It has highs and lows, and boredom in-between. Circumstances change and the world is so unstable. There are pains and triumphs from the past, choices in the present, and dreams to hope and prepare for in the future.
Every person and event, both big and small, is a moving part in the midst of your own personal struggles. When you finally feel like things are settling down, things change.
Life passes by leaving a trail of memories, disappointments, short term victories, and tragedies. Every person experiences these things in their lives . . . you’re not alone..
You may want to quit and get off this merry-go-round, but there is no escape. Life has trade-offs. No matter now much or little you do, you encounter both the positive and the negative.
Those who quit on life, quit on GOD. Those who quit on GOD become empty shells of a futile life. However, those who stay in the fight continue in a cycle of victory and conflict.
“for a wide door for effective service has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.“
1 Corinthians 16:9 NASB
The Apostle Paul had choices too. Go forward. Face adversity. Or quit. He chose forward.
His life was entangled with seeking GOD’s Will, tremendous adversity, and small and large victories. He was respected and hated. He lived in palaces and dungeons. He had good friends, but was betrayed by others.
In the midst of his great trials he continued to comfort, evangelize, pray, and pursue. Building GOD’s Kingdom was often complicated by long stays in dungeons; where he learned more about prayer and wrote epistles. In his darkest hours he was doing more to advance GOD’sKingdom by reaching readers that he never met and future generations.
So my friend, just keep moving.
Pain is pain. Sorrow is sorrow. Hurt is hurt. Death, divorce, physical disabilities, financial trials, and conflict with those that we love the most can cripple our hearts and endanger our endeavors. If you have to go very slow to mend then go slow. If it takes times, let the healing begin.
GOD wants to comfort you. He sent His COMFORTER, The HOLY SPIRIT, because He knew that you’d need comforting.
He’ll also help you to learn and repent if necessary and to forgive if needed. This is important, because there is no moving forward otherwise.
You never know when tragedy will strike, so be prepared by walking close to JESUS.
Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 2 Timothy 3:12 NASB
Persecution comes in all sizes and shapes. It hurts the most when it comes from those you really love . . . or trust . . . or from fellow believers.
Sometimes we pour our time, money, and efforts into an individual. Instead of thanks we get accusations, strife, and even hatred.
Don’t let this detour you. There’s others who still need help. You can’t quit. JESUS never quit, til His dying breath.
To avoid persecution is to do little for the Kingdom of GOD and for your fellow man.
We’ve all been left alone in our darkest hour or greatest triumphs. Perhaps, GOD allows this to enable a stronger relationship with Him. But it still hurts deeply.
When I came to CHRIST, I eventually lost all my friends. They didn’t understand. They liked the old me, but not the new.
When I began my own ministry, I lost every friend in this local area. I was met with slander, judgement and mockery. Again, they just didn’t understand.
One of my biggest pains was when my brother Jim died. I thought that I would die for the next two months. Yet, there were those that attacked me at this vulnerable hour. All I could do was to forgive and move on . . . and hope to bless them when their greatest tragedy strikes.
I’ve never done one thing perfectly. In fact I’ve been far from perfect – marriage, parenting, work, ministry of many kinds, relationships, finances, and health. Does that mean that I’m a failure? Does that mean that my life is futile?
NO . . . not if my motive was love, my character un-compromised (I didn’t say without sin) and I did it for the Glory of JESUS. Only one man did it perfect. The rest of us are seriously flawed.
For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death. No regrets. Keep moving. 2 Corinthians 7:10 NASB
Those who don’t fail, do nothing. Which is the biggest failure.
Do you feel like you have finally gotten onto the highway of success, only to experience a setback? Yes, we all have.
Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. John 15:2 NASB
Every committed believer experiences this cycle. They bear fruit and then face complications. This will go on your entire life before you enter eternity.
We are called to bear fruit; only the fruit that HE can bear. Why setbacks? Keeps us from pride, draws us to a closer relationship with JESUS, and prepares us for the next challenge. JESUS experienced this, as did the Patriarchs, Prophets, and Apostles. But they kept moving, anyway.
Yes, sin destroys GOD’s best intentions. It can alter circumstances. There can be consequences. We can stumble others. And grieve the HOLY SPIRIT.
Big sin can be devastating. And hidden, ongoing sin deceptive.
But I have good news for you. GOD’s Grace redeems! JESUS’ Blood cleanses! And His Resurrection empowers!
He can rebuild a shattered life one brick at a time. He’s not just an excellent CREATOR, but also an amazing Rebuilder.
Give Him time to restore. Give others time for reconciliation. Meanwhile enjoy Him! And just keep moving!
An Unending Trial
One of the most difficult trials is one that never ends. It can be a physical or mental disability . . . hatred and discrimination from others . . . a very bad marriage with no adultery to allow escape . . . a death of a special loved one . . . a wrong choice in which you can’t escape the consequences.
Paul had his thorn in the flesh. It never left him. Probably, we all do; even those that we think are only blessed.
These thorns can build character in every aspect of our walk in CHRIST. We can lay down and be a victim or allow it to build greatness in us. Just keep moving.
The World Around Us
To trust in man can bring fear. To trust the institutions of man only brings frustration. GOD is Sovereign and He is in control. The world is out of control.
Pray for our leaders, do your small part to make it better.
Many see President Trump as Cyrus to Israel and as Jehu to America. Jehu never brought spiritual revival, but good practical changes to Israel. The believers must bring the spiritual changes. Remember that Athaliah, the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel, brought great destruction after Jehu’s death. (Should we watch for a woman from the left?) I don’t know. All I know is that we must bring revival.
